What does a celiac service dog or gluten detection dog do?

They are trained to detect gluten in food, medicine, and personal care products.  They are task trained medical alert service dogs that work for their handlers who have celiac disease or food allergies.

How do you train a gluten detection dog?

How did I train my gluten sniffing dog?

I trained her with a celiac service dog trainer. We trained over zoom weekly where she taught me what to do and then we practiced on our own. I made so many mistakes that I don’t want you to make. How much gluten can a celiac service dog detect?
Can she detect gluten from cross contact?

Celiac service dogs can detect down to trace amounts of gluten, the amount you would find from cross-contact from handling in a restaurant. Watch the video that shows a demonstration of how little amounts of gluten she can detect.

How do you know if a dog detects gluten?

Gluten detection dogs alert when they detect gluten, and they have a different alert when something is gluten-free. Suki raises a paw for gluten and she boops when it is gluten-free.
